'Girls Just Wanna Be Safe' is a project addressing women's safety in the UK, following the needle spiking epidemic during 2021 and the death of Sarah Everard. The project includes a zine, which discusses the issues of spiking, women's safety in general and what needs to happen to ensure women feel safe during their everyday lives. As well as the zine, I designed and produced life-size protest banners in the shape of suits of armour, to demonstrate the reality of the situation; in order for women to really protect themselves on a night out or walking home at night, this is what they would have to wear. During a protest, people can hold the armour as if they are wearing it, in order to portray an extremely important and striking message.
